Coastal Charms & A Maine Lobster Experience

The morning began with a quiet, self-serve breakfast before setting out for our journey deeper into Down East Maine. After checking out of the Fairfield Inn & Suites in North Conway, we hit the road, ready to explore Maine’s picturesque coastal towns.

Our first stop was the charming town of Kennebunkport. A scenic drive through town took us past Walker’s Point, the famous Bush family summer retreat, offering breathtaking ocean views. We also admired the Wedding Cake House, a stunning Gothic-style home with intricate white detailing resembling a beautifully decorated cake.

With free time in Dock Square, we wandered through boutique shops, art galleries, and seaside cafés, soaking in the relaxed, nautical atmosphere. Lunch was on our own, with many of us indulging in Maine’s coastal flavors—fresh lobster rolls, creamy chowders, and blueberry treats.

In the afternoon, we arrived in Ogunquit for an unforgettable Lobstering Cruise with FinestKind Cruises. Aboard the boat, we experienced firsthand how Maine lobster is harvested, watching the crew haul traps, measure lobsters, and explain conservation efforts. The crisp sea breeze and stunning coastal views made this hands-on experience a highlight of the day.

Back on land, we enjoyed free time in Perkins Cove, a picturesque fishing village lined with waterfront shops and seafood restaurants. A charming footbridge offered panoramic ocean views, making it the perfect spot for a stroll, a coffee, and a few last coastal photos.

By early evening, we checked into the Meadowmere Resort in Ogunquit, where our luggage was handled upon arrival. After a short break, we gathered for a traditional Maine Clambake. The evening was filled with delicious food and the warm camaraderie of our fellow travelers. With full hearts and satisfied appetites, we returned to the Meadowmere Resort, ready to rest up for the final stretch of our New England adventure.
