Journal Entry, Day 2

Historic Boston

This morning, we set out for a guided tour of historic Boston, the birthplace of American freedom. Our guide led us along the famous Freedom Trail, where we viewed and visited many historic sites, including the Massachusetts State House, Paul Revere’s House, and the Old North Church. With every step, we could almost hear the echoes of revolutionaries who had walked these same streets centuries ago. The history felt alive as we learned about the brave Bostonians and Colonialists who dared to challenge Britain and helped establish the greatest republic in the world.

By midday, we arrived at Faneuil Hall Marketplace, a lively hub that has been bustling since 1742. We had free time to grab lunch on our own, and the variety of eateries made it hard to choose but we ended up having a delicious slice of Pepperoni pizza. The marketplace was alive with street performers and vendors, making it a great place to soak in the city's vibrant culture.

In the afternoon, we left the city behind and traveled west, soaking in the breathtaking colors of autumn. The vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows stretched across the landscape, a stunning reminder of why New England fall tours are so popular.

Our destination was the Salem Cross Inn and the evening was magical! We were transported back to the 1770s with a firefpace feast expertly prepared right before our eyes — clam chowder from the cast iron cauldron and prime rib cooked perfectly on the only authentic Roasting Jack in America! And this being autumn in New England, we finished our meal with an amazing apple pie topped with fresh whipped cream!

After dinner, we checked into our rooms for the evening. It had been a day filled with history, scenic beauty, and good food, and we were ready to rest up for the adventures to come.
